About Us
The Phelan Family
We are two former city dwellers who grew up in the suburbs. We didn't know that a farm was our dream until we both realized that we wanted some open space around us and enough land to create the life that we wanted to live. Our small farm sits on just under 3 acres near the tiny village of Cissna Park, Illinois (population 850) surrounded by a few neighbors and lots of corn and soybean fields. We are 20 miles away from a small grocery store and 45 miles away from a city with what people would consider "normal" stores. There is always something to do on the farm. Raising our children to know how to work hard, the value of a dollar, and understanding where our food comes from and the God who made it is our number one goal in living here. Here are a few more things we believe in...
|
Stewardship
We believe that stewardship begins with honoring the Creator. We encourage the creation to embrace its natural behaviors and tendencies and to live like it was designed by God. When we allow creation to act the way it was meant to, we honor the Creator.

Community
We believe in the purpose of community. We strive to work in and through our local community to run our business. Our goal is to source from local suppliers as well as sell to a local customer base. In doing so, we build up others and strengthen the bonds within our community.

Creativity
We believe in the value of creativity. We take joy in solving problems by using our God given gifts and talents, regardless of how contrarian the end result. We value a "live and learn" mindset on the farm and are quick to correct our path based on the failures we experience.
